For years, we have spent the first Friday night in June, down at Lions Park setting up our booth for Springtime in Paris. It’s a night of excitement and anticipation knowing that Springtime in Paris has finally arrived.
Springtime in Paris means the start of Brant summer events. It’s the start of the community coming together for the warm months. It’s the celebration of our beautiful community and all the wonderful things that bloom in spring.
Using the beautiful Paris Lions park, Springtime in Paris is a two day FREE event featuring local vendors, crafts, food trucks and entertainment.
This year Springtime in Paris was set to celebrate their 27th annual event. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing guidelines prohibit social gatherings of more than five people and all mass gatherings are currently cancelled.
We would like to take this time to thank all the wonderful volunteers past and present that have made Springtime in Paris the community staple that it is. An event like this requires a very important group of people dedicating countless hours. Thank you to all the volunteers for all you do every year, to make this event so great!
Started by the Kindred Spirits Artisans of Paris, Springtime in Paris began with a concept of home visits where artisans were able to display their work, similar to Christmas in Paris. Throughout the years, various groups of volunteers and community groups jumped in to help grow and expand the event to Lion’s Park in Paris.
Today, the event has become the Kiwanis Club of Paris-Brant’s signature project. What makes springtime so unique, is the unity of many service clubs and community groups that participate including;
- Optimist (Crafters, formerly Soap Box Derby as well)
- Lions (Food Truck)
- Paris Horticultural Society (Paris Garden Tour)
- Walters Greenhouse (kids garden activity)
- Kindred Spirits (kids art activity)
- Grand River Rafting (river rafting)
- Up in a Paris Studio Tour (Holly O)
- County of Brant Library
- County of Brant Parks & Rec
- County of Brant Tourism
Also unique to this event, is the variety of local musicians and performers. Live performances are scheduled all day Saturday and Sunday.
For local businesses, Springtime in Paris offers an opportunity to welcome the nearly 10,000 visitors that come to the event across the 2 days.
While this weekend will surely leave many of us feeling as though something is missing, we look forward to the return of Springtime in Paris in 2021.
